2013 State Legislative Dinner
The county hosted a state legislative dinner on Jan. 31 at the Museum of the Oregon Territory. State legislators attended along with county elected officials, department directors and Clackamas County Commissioners to learn more about county legislative priorities for 2013.

Commissioner Bernard spoke at the quarterly Fall Say Hey! event - sponsored by Partners in Diversity (PiD) and hosted by Multnomah and Clackamas counties on Nov. 8. It was held at Oregon Historical Society and attended by more than 500 professionals in the metro area. Clackamas County is a member of PiD - an organization that works to help companies recruit, support, and retain professionals of color to Oregon and SW Washington. |

On March 28, Commissioner Jim Bernard looks on as Governor John Kitzhaber signs Oregon Senate Bill 1591, funding the Government Camp rest area and other rest areas throughout Oregon. The Government Camp rest area, the only public restroom between Portland and Madras along U.S. 26, was scheduled to close permanently until Clackamas County and state legislators came together to ensure stable funding solutions for these rest areas. |

Commissioner Bernard speaks at a dinner hosted by Clackamas County on Jan. 12. Its purpose was to introduce Clackamas County’s 2012 state legislative agenda to the county’s state legislative delegation. The dinner brought together the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners, other county elected officials and our state legislative delegation to review the legislative agenda. It was a success! There was a great turn out for the dinner - 11 of the 17 members of the Clackamas County Legislative Delegation were in attendance. It was held at the Museum of Oregon Territory in Oregon City. |

Commissioner Jim Bernard welcomed Chinese delegates from the China/U.S. Sustainable Land Use Training Program, who visited the county Oct. 13 to learn about Clackamas County land use and sustainability practices as well as tour county rural areas.
