About Your Budget Testimony

Testimony Opportunities 

Budget hearings (as opposed to Budget Committee meetings) are your opportunity to testify in person. 

For the General County Budget, public testimony will be taken beginning at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

For agency budgets (special districts primarily), testimony will be taken following the respective general Budget Committee meeting.  All agency budgets will be reviewed and heard on Thursday, May 24, 2012.  See the schedule for times; all times are approximate.

Testimony Tips:

 The following general testimony tips may help in formulating your testimony to Budget Committees and the Board of County Commissioners.    

• Any testimony you provide in writing is forwarded to the Board and Budget Committee members to help with their decision making during each budget stage.
• Please provide your name and address when testifying.
• When testifying in person or in writing, presenting a concise summary of the issues with specifics is the most effective way to communicate your views.
• Following brief introductory remarks, hearings will be devoted to citizen testimony. 
• It is possible that more citizens may want to testify than time allows.  You are encouraged to bring written testimony to submit to the record to assure your views are registered.  Single copies can be submitted to staff present at the hearing. if you bring eleven (11) copies, they will be submitted directly to the Board Clerk who will hand them out to the Board and Budget Committee members.

Another Board of County Commissioners hearing and vote to adopt the final budget takes place in late June.  Please be sure to track this budget web site for more detailed information and additional opportunities to participate in the budget process.  Thank you for your participation!
