Community & Legislative Affairs

Community and Legislative Affairs is a new Department, formed in July of 2007. Prior to its establishment, state legislative affairs had been a program within the Public and Government Relations Department. Community Affairs was not recognized as a separate and distinct function of the County previously. However, with the increasing regionalization of issues and the desire for a more comprehensive approach with its local government partners, the County created the program to focus on its relationships with its 17 cities and numerous special districts

Mission Statement/Purpose

The mission of the Department of Community and Legislative Affairs is to promote proactive communication, understanding and cooperation between the County and its cities, special districts, state legislative delegation, and other local, regional, and state government agencies. Through these relationships and programs, the department seeks to develop and strengthen partnerships that will enhance the County’s effectiveness to address the needs and concerns of its constituents, and leverage resources to accomplish common goals.
