Conclusion
Workers’ Compensation Claims

Workers’ compensation claims generated from employee injuries account for the highest cost amongst risk exposures. As the Number of Claims per Employee graph shows, these claims have reduced in number over the past 4 years. Costs are also decreasing.
Also, a look at our top 5 Workers’ Compensation Claim Types by Number shows strains/sprains, our highest cost generators, has decreased by 39% since FY 04-05. This, and the overall reduction in cost supports the attention departments are giving to safety.
Continued attention to training, accident investigation and follow-through are part of the reason for the decrease from last year in the number and cost of claims. Also, increased awareness through the SAFTY (Bingo) Incentive Program is helping. (See Top 6 Departments by Number and Top 6 Departments by Cost.)
