Who may request an absentee ballot?
Any registered voter who wishes to have their ballot mailed to an address other than their residence address.
When can I request an absentee ballot?
You may request an absentee ballot at any time. However, if one is requested by mail, be sure to allow enough time for the ballot to be delivered to you, voted and returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of an election.
I will be out of town when ballots are mailed. How do I get a ballot?
Absentee ballots are available 45 days before an election. You may request an early absentee ballot from us either in person, by mail or by fax 503.655.8461.
Your request must include:
- your name;
- your residence address;
- the address to which the ballot is to be mailed;
- the specific election(s) for which a ballot is requested; and
- your signature.
The elections office is not required to mail absentee ballots after the 5th day prior to an election. However, you may vote in person at the elections office through election day.
Remember, your voted ballot must received by Clackamas County Elections or an official ballot drop box no later that 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election. The postmark does not count.
