Information about Restaurant Scoring
Restaurants receive two unannounced, semi-annual inspections each year. Additional inspections may be due to a change of ownership.
If you look while entering a restaurant you will see a placard near the entrance that says "Complied" or "Failed to Comply". To receive a Complied placard you need to score at least 70% on a semi-annual inspection.
The bolded violations are Critical Violations that receive a score of four or five points. Multiple deficiencies in the same category are assessed points one time. A critical violation is more likely than other "non-critical violations" to contribute to food contamination, illness, or environmental health hazard. A non-critical violation can receive one or two points.
All noted items on the inspection report can receive repeat penalty points if they are repeated on the next semi-annual inspection. The penalty points double the point value.
Most Critical Item Violations are corrected during the inspection or may require a re-inspection.
