NOVEMBER 2011 MEETING MINUTES

Guests: Randy Shannon, City of Damascus

Called to Order: Susan Nielsen, Chair, called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.

Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the August 11, 2011 meeting were amended to state that Bill Baars was in attendance and approved unanimously.

Announcement: George Hoyt announced that Friends of Sandy Library would be happy to provide other friends groups books for book sales. Anyone who is interested is encourage to contact George.

Old Business: The Committee reviewed the Progress Report and agreed to send it to the District Board with minor changes and a cover memo. The Committee also agreed that the internal transfer document should be updated every year and included in the Progress Report.

Presentation From Damascus: Randy Shannon from Damascus asked have the District IGA amended so that it allows the City District funding in the future if Damascus wishes to open a library. Mr. Shannon gave the committee one copy of the language Damascus wishes to have changed. The committee requested an electronic copy so everyone could see the Damascus proposal. Once the committee can see the language they will discuss the proposal.

New Business:
Doris announced that the Library District has a webpage. The page is a work in progress.

Bill Baars was elected to be the next Chair of the District Advisory Committee. Mark Docken was elected Vice Chair.

Doris gave a brief update on Library Network. The Network Office will be recruiting for the Manager’s position soon. Network staff are moving the servers to ESD for reliable power service, backup generators, increased security, reliable air conditioning, automatic back-ups, and to locate the equipment at a fiber hub.

Sharing: Mary from Gladstone announced that the City has given the go-ahead to finish the construction drawings on their new library building.

Next Regular Meeting: February 9, 2012 at 5:30 in the Network Office.

Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
