Meals

Our Nutrition Program reaches deep into the community with home-delivered meals- and attracts a diverse group of people to the Center to enjoy each other and nutritious mid-day meals.

The Nutrition Program operates through the energy of great volunteers and generous amounts of community support.

You help most when you:

  • Support our fundraising activities
Stop in for a bowl of homemade soup and a sandwich or piece of pie at Pete's Café. Visit annual events like the Fall Craft Bazaar. Attend our Famous Sunday Dinners or have an ice cream sundae with us in August. These and other events help to meet on-going expenses.
  • Volunteer
Lend a hand as an individual or group! Can your workplace cover a meals-on-wheels route or team up to serve in the dining room once a month? Maybe you want to take a turn at Pete's Café, help pack meals or play the piano at lunchtime. There are always openings for people who want to help!
  • Contribute what you can
Memorial gifts and donations-bequests, annuities or cash may be made directly to the Nutrition Program and will help provide meals to seniors who need them.

Weekend & Holiday Meals

Persons eligible for home-delivered meals may also receive frozen meals prepared at the Center and delivered on Thursday or Friday for later use on the weekends or holidays. The same boundary, eligibility and cost factors apply, as above.

Lunch at the Center

Seniors who come to the Center may sit down to a balanced full-course meal served at 12 noon Monday through Friday. Meals served or sent out from the Center are prepared on-site in our full-service commercial kitchen by professional staff. Volunteer groups from the community serve each table.

Service Boundaries/Eligibility/Cost: Any senior age 60 or better, living in any geographic area, may enjoy the noon meal on a donation basis. Persons under age 60 are asked to pay the true cost of the meal - $5.50 per person.

Pete's Café

For those who prefer a morning coffee break or lighter mid-day meal, soup, sandwiches, pastries and beverages are available on an ala carte basis on Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1 pm.
