Government Affairs

The mission of the Government Affairs Department is to ensure that the Board of County Commissioners' positions and priorities are reflected in major public policy discussions at the federal, state, regional and local level. The Director and staff work closely with elected representatives and key officials at all levels of government to promote the needs of the County and its residents. Government Affairs coordinates with internal departments to create and advance the County's federal and state legislative agendas, which outline the County's policy and funding priorities in relation to the United States Congress and Oregon State Legislature. Staff members also work closely with local governments and serve on a wide range of intergovernmental committees to accomplish regional policy priorities and promote the County's perspective on various issues.
