Clackamas County Elections mails new voter notification cards to county’s registered voters

The Elections Division has mailed new voter notification cards to all registered voters in Clackamas County, County Clerk Sherry Hall announced Tuesday.

Every 10 years following the census, boundaries for Congressional, State Senate and State Representative districts are redrawn. Following this, the county redraws its precinct boundaries to make sure all the legislative districts are comprised of whole precincts. Once this process is complete, new voter notification cards - or precinct cards - are mailed to all county voters. The card either lets them know of their new precinct/districts, or reminds them of their current (unchanged) precinct/districts.

The legislative districts being voted in 2012 (primary and general elections) take effect Jan. 1, 2013. Voters will receive a ballot containing the candidate names fitting the voter’s new or unchanged precinct/districts and vote for the person who'll take the office in 2013.
