Clackamas County Area Agency on Aging has two volunteer openings

The Clackamas County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council has two opennings for volunteers interested in serving the community in a meaningful way and learning how government works.

The council meets once a month for 2 1/2 hours. Each member also serves on the Adult Center Liaison or Advocacy Committee that includes monthly meetings of 60 to 90 minutes.

The Adult Center Liaison Committee meets at a different senior center in Clackamas County each month. They meet with the center director to find out about any needs the center may have , eat lunch with the congregate meal group and talk to them about the senior center, the food provided and whether or not their needs are being met.

The Advocacy Committee advocates for issues that are important to seniors. Members educate legislators and policy makers in writing, in person and over the phone.

Interested individuals need to complete an application form. Applications may be completed and submitted online via the county's website, http://www.clackamas.us/miscapp/application.jsp. For an application form to mail, contact Citizen Involvement, 503-742-4353, 2051 Kaen Road, Oregon City, OR 97045.

The application deadline is Thursday, May 17.
