The bridge that carries Brightwood Loop Road over the Salmon River re-opened to the public on Friday, September 28, nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
The bridge was closed temporarily on August 27 so Clackamas County could paint the underside of the structure. While the project is not yet totally completed, it has progressed far enough so that vehicles can now cross the bridge without any risk to the public or workers.
The top of the Salmon River Bridge was repainted by County Transportation Maintenance staff earlier this summer, and a contractor was brought in to paint the underside of the bridge because of the need for specialized scaffolding. ;The fresh coat of paint will help prevent future corrosion, preserve the bridge’s structural integrity and prolong the life of the bridge.
