Temporary elections worker relieved of duty in connection with Clackamas County ballot tampering investigation

A temporary elections worker has been relieved of duty in connection with an investigation into alleged ballot tampering in Clackamas County. The worker, Deanna Swenson, was relieved of duty immediately after the alleged ballot tampering was discovered. The incident has been referred to the Oregon Department of Justice for further investigation.

Swenson is not a county employee but worked part-time at the elections division at the time of the Oct. 31 incident.

The Clackamas County Elections Division and the Elections Division of the Secretary of State are cooperating to ensure that every ballot marked by the voter will be counted as intended and that any ballot alteration in violation of election law will not be considered.
