A public meeting on Clackamas County's plan to reconstruct the embankment along East Barlow Trail Road is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Hoodland Fire Station, 69634 E. Highway 26, Welches. The meeting will include details about the planned embankment reconstruction, road closure and detour plans and the project schedule.
During storms in January 2011, the Sandy River damaged the roadway's sloped embankment, leaving approximately 360 feet of East Barlow Trail Road vulnerable to erosion and potential destruction in a future storm. The project will reconstruct that embankment on East Barlow Trail Road at milepost 6.
During construction, which is tentatively scheduled for summer-fall 2014 or summer-fall 2015, Barlow Trail Road will be closed to through traffic and a detour route will be established.
The $1.1 million project is funded primarily through federal emergency funds. Updated information about the project will be available throughout planning and construction at http://www.clackamas.us/engineering/barlowtrailroadbankrestoration.html.
