Hilltop Tax Service Inc. in Oregon City to be honored for sustainable actions by Clackamas County

The Clackamas County Recycling Partnership has chosen Hilltop Tax Service Inc. in Oregon City to receive a BRAG (Business Recycling Awards Group) award for displaying excellence in recycling, waste prevention and sustainable operations. The award is being presented tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 22) by Ginny Haines from the Clackamas County Office of Sustainability.

Hilltop Tax Service Inc. has been focusing on reducing waste and increasing recycling. As a small group, the staff works together to re-use materials and supplies as much as possible within the office and then donate office supplies, furniture and other items they no longer need.

They work with their clients to reduce paper and encourage the use of e-filing tax returns, and are always on the lookout for Energy Star-labeled office equipment, use green cleaners, and consistently use recycle content paper and other office supplies.

"Hilltop Tax Service is an excellent example of how a small business can make waste reduction and recycling an integral part of their routine," said Haines. "They are a small group, which makes it is easy for everyone to share new ideas about being sustainable, so the whole office is a working green team."

BRAG memberships go to Clackamas County businesses that recycle all relevant materials regularly, prevent waste with at least three ongoing activities, consistently buy recycled-content products, and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainable operations.

The Clackamas County Recycling Partnership is a cooperative of local garbage and recycling companies; the cities of Barlow, Canby, Damascus, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Sandy, West Linn and Wilsonville, and Clackamas County.
