Clackamas County honors Oregon City business, Buel’s Impressions Printing, for sustainable business practices
Buel’s Impressions Printing will be recognized Wednesday, Feb. 13, for excellence in recycling, waste prevention and sustainable operations. The Oregon City business will receive a Business Recycling Awards Group (BRAG) Award, certificate and recycled glass plaque from the Clackamas County Recycling Partnership, presented by Liz Braman from the Clackamas County Office of Sustainability. The presentation will be made at the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce Good Morning Oregon City gathering at the Oregon City Public Works Department.
Buel’s Impressions Printing President Dave Buel and his staff have focused on sustainable practices for many years. They have a recycling coordinator at their business. Buel’s not only uses a minimum of 30-percent post-consumer recycled content paper for their business, but also makes it available to their customers. They offer their customers printing projects, business cards, envelopes and letterhead with recycled content paper.
Buel’s Impressions Printing’s commitment to sustainability also includes:
• Using a paper reduction assessment to identify ways to reduce paper and toner use;
• Using a centralized printer system, rather than individualized printers, to save paper waste and energy.
• A policy to buy office equipment with the ENERGY STAR label, and
• A system to consistently donate unwanted office supplies, computer equipment and furniture.
Buel’s Impressions Printing demonstrates that all types of businesses can operate in a sustainable manner, and many can extend the opportunity to their customers, to be both successful in business, and protective of the environment and natural resources.
BRAG Awards go to Clackamas County businesses that recycle all relevant materials regularly, prevent waste with at least three ongoing activities, consistently buy recycled-content products, and demonstrate an on-going commitment to sustainable operations.
The Clackamas County Recycling Partnership is a cooperative of local garbage and recycling companies; the cities of Barlow, Canby, Damascus, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Sandy, West Linn and Wilsonville, and Clackamas County.
