Clackamas County seeks volunteers for Board of Property Tax Appeals
TheClackamas County Board of Commissioners will soon be appointing two pools ofcounty residents to serve on the Board of Property Tax Appeals (BOPTA), whichoffers reimbursement to board members due to the concentrated time commitmentinvolved. The county is seeking non-office-holding county residents whoare available during business hours Monday through Friday.
Boardmembers meet for mandatory training prior to the board convening in February2014. The board will hear property tax appeals between Feb. 3, 2014, andApril 15, 2014. Terms of office end June 30, 2014. Hundredsof Clackamas County property owners appeal to the BOPTA each year to make surethey are paying no more than their fair share of property taxes. The boardconsiders these appeals and arrives at a decision on each.
Servingon the board is a demanding and time-consuming job, according to County ClerkSherry Hall. "Because of the large time commitment, the county offersboard members reimbursement," she said.
Interestedindividuals need to complete an application form. Applications may be completedand submitted online via the county's website, http://www.clackamas.us/miscapp/application.jsp
Applicantswill be asked to attend an interview.
