Failed weld on Canby Ferry results in temporary closure

The Canby Ferry, which returned to service in mid-July after six months of retrofitting and repairs, is out of service for about two weeks as workers determine how best to fix a failed weld.

Inspections show that the faulty weld does not appear to be related to the recent retrofitting.

The Ferry normally transfers people and vehicles across the Willamette River between Canby and Wilsonville, from 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. seven days a week except on major holidays and when the water level rises to 70 feet or higher.
