Failed weld on Canby Ferry results in temporary closure
TheCanby Ferry, which returned to service in mid-July after six months ofretrofitting and repairs, is out of service for about two weeks as workersdetermine how best to fix a failed weld.
Inspectionsshow that the faulty weld does not appear to be related to the recentretrofitting.
TheFerry normally transfers people and vehicles across the Willamette Riverbetween Canby and Wilsonville, from 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. seven days a weekexcept on major holidays and when the water level rises to 70 feet or higher.
