Volunteer opportunities open at Clackamas County Dog Services; orientation set for May 21

The shelter no longer provides obedience training classes or pet first aid classes. If you are interested in volunteering at Clackamas County Dog Services or need more information about the Clackamas Dogs Foundation, contact Sarah Holcombe or call 503-722-6729.

Interested in going to the dogs? Clackamas County Dog Services is holding a volunteer orientation from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21. The orientation will be held at the Clackamas County Animal Adoption and Education Center located at 13141 SE Highway 212 in Clackamas.

At the orientation, participants will learn more about Dog Services and the Clackamas Dogs Foundation, get to take a tour of the Center and have a chance to sign up for various volunteer opportunities. Volunteer applications will be available and interested people will be able to schedule an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, or youth who volunteer with their parents or youth who want to do community-based projects to support the Center. For more information, email mwhite2@clackamas.us.

Clackamas County Dog Services (CCDS) provides a wide variety of dog services including licensing; sick, injured and emergency dog rescue; pet protective custody, bite investigations, quarantine of dogs that have bitten and are not rabies vaccinated, inspection of dog kennels, obedience training classes, pet first aid classes and spay/neuter services.

Clackamas Dogs Foundation is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of dogs and people by supporting the educational and public service activities and programs of CCDS. As a tax-exempt organization, CDF can accept private donations on behalf of CCDS in support of furthering its mission of encouraging the human/pet bond.
