SE Lawnfield Road to close permanently at 82nd Drive on April 15

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will permanently close a segment of SE Lawnfield Road between the Union Pacific Railroad crossing and 82nd Drive at 6 a.m., Wednesday April 15. The closure affects all motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

The closure of this roadway in the Clackamas Industrial Area is a major milestone in construction of the Sunrise JTA project, which will result in a new four-lane highway and new road connections to reduce congestion in the busy jobs and freight corridor along Highway 212/224 and its link with Interstate 205.

Up-to-date closure information can be found on the project website at The project website also includes maps that show alternative traffic patterns to and from Lawnfield Road.

Motorists will be able to reach Lawnfield Road via Mather Road and 98th Court for 10 days after the Wednesday closure while an extension of Minuteman Way in the Lawnfield Industrial District is completed. More information about the extension project is available at

The new Sunrise JTA highway is designed to:

An alternate route to Lawnfield Road will be Sunnybrook Boulevard to 97th Avenue. In 2016 an additional connection will be added, an east-west extension of SE Tolbert Street from 82nd Drive over the railroad tracks to Minuteman Way. The new bridge will replace the existing at-grade crossing at Lawnfield Road to make travel safer for bicyclists, motorists and pedestrians. More information is available on the project website at
