New openings on Clackamas County ABCs: Workforce Investment Council, Emergency Medical Services

Clackamas County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on county Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs). These ABCs offer residents the opportunity to become very involved in specific activities and goals of Clackamas County.

New ABC openings from the past week include:

Workforce Investment Council of Clackamas County (WICCO): This council has four vacancies on its board of directors, each of which carries a three-year term. WICCO is dedicated to building a strong workforce in the County that helps local businesses meet global demands. More about WICCO can be found at

Board members help set WICCO funding strategies, develop policy and oversee local workforce development initiatives in partnership with elected officials. WICCO seeks to fill two positions with business representatives and the other two with individuals who represent labor and apprenticeships. In addition to filling out an online form (see below), interested parties must submit a WICCO supplemental application and have a letter of nomination by a local business organization or local business trade association as required by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. Applications are due by Thursday, June 18 at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Amy Oakley at or 503-657-6644.

Emergency Medical Services Council (EMSC): This council has one opening, specifically for an emergency physician from a hospital within the county, which carries a three-year term. The EMSC advises commissioners and the county Health, Housing and Human Services department in matters relating to emergency medical response and ambulance services.

The council is comprised of eleven members representing all phases of emergency medical response, and reflects a balance and diversity of membership in the areas of geography, gender, interest, and experience. The application deadline is Thursday, June 4, at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Emergency Medical Services Supervisor Larry MacDaniels at or 503-655-8256.

Individuals interested in any of these opportunities can apply online at or via a paper form that can be obtained from the Public and Government Affairs department by calling 503-655-8751 or in person at the Public Services Building at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City.
