Clackamas County Fire Defense Board and Department of Emergency Management urge caution during July 4 celebrations

The Clackamas County Fire Defense Board and Clackamas County Emergency Management wish to remind the public to please use extreme caution while using fireworks or while tending to an open fire especially in this unusually hot, dry weather.

All fire agencies within the county are at high regarding fire danger. Backyard and agricultural burning is prohibited, recreational and campfires are allowed subject to the approvals and conditions set by local communities or fire districts.

The Sandy Fire District has instituted a burn ban and is prohibiting the display and use of fireworks. Happy Valley is also enforcing its fireworks ordinance. At this time, public fireworks displays celebrating Independence Day will go on as scheduled, once again subject to approvals and conditions set by local communities and fire districts.
