Clackamas County Commissioners to discuss marijuana land use issues with Planning Commission at July 27 work session

Information about marijuana land use issues will be presented by the Clackamas County Planning Director at a work session of the Planning Commission this coming Monday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m. The Board of County Commissioners will join the Planning Commission for the discussion.

The meeting will be held in the first-floor auditorium of the Development Services Building, located at 150 Beavercreek Road in Oregon City.

The public is welcome to attend and listen. There will be no public testimony or input at the work session and the size of the room limits the audience to 75 people.

The meeting will be audio recorded and available for people to listen to on the Planning Commission webpage at by the end of the day on Tuesday, July 28.

With new Oregon laws and regulations in place related to the growing, use and sale of medical and recreational marijuana, the Board of County Commissioners is considering additional time, place and manner regulations for businesses that grow, process, wholesale and/or sell recreational or medical marijuana.

The purpose of this coming work session is for county staff to update the commissioners on land use issues related to marijuana facilities. An advisory task force representing various stakeholder interests will hold public meetings in August, and public hearings will be held before both the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners this autumn before final action is taken in December 2015.

Information about the meetings will be publicized to the community through social media, newspapers/television/radio, the county website and other mediums.

For more information, members of the media and the public may email the Planning and Zoning Division, call 503-742-4500, or visit the Marijuana Land Use Laws and Regulations webpage.
