Clackamas County personnel respond to sewer problem in Happy Valley

Clackamas County Water Environment Services (WES) responded to a sewer problem that may affect westbound traffic on the 11000 block of SE Sunnyside Road in Happy Valley starting tomorrow night. Traffic could be reduced to one lane as work crews make repairs.

WES personnel confirmed the sewer problem in the vicinity of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 11899 Sunnyside Road and contacted Clackamas County Public Health, the city of Happy Valley, and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.

WES officials say it does not appear that any sewage advanced beyond a containment area. A private contractor brought in a temporary storage tank for the restaurant to use until the issue is resolved.

The restaurant voluntarily closed about 11 a.m. today, but reopened more than an hour later. The restaurant opened for business last November.
