County small businesses affected by January storms now eligible for federal disaster loans

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced that low-interest federal loans are now available to small businesses in eight Oregon counties that were affected by severe winter storms that occurred earlier this year from Jan. 8 through Jan. 20. Clackamas County is one of the eight counties.

More information can be found in the SBA press release

SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster following a request last week from Oregon Gov. Kate Brown.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Clackamas, Columbia, Hood River, Marion, Multnomah, Wasco, Washington and Yamhill counties.

Small nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations (of any size) may qualify for loans of up to $2 million. The filing deadline is Jan. 11, 2018.

For more information, members of the media may contact the SBA’s Richard Jenkins at 916-735-1500.
