County to plant pinwheels on April 19 to raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month

Next Wednesday, April 19, the county’s Health, Housing & Human Services staff will plant blue pinwheels at Red Soils Campus in Oregon City to raise awareness of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Pinwheels are a national symbol of child abuse prevention – a representation of a playful childhood. The pinwheels will be planted in the Circle of Honor, the grassy area nestled between the county’s Development Services Building (150 Beavercreek Road) and Public Services Building (2051 Kaen Road).

The planting is set to begin at 1 p.m., and the display will stand through the end of April as a reminder of our role in keeping children safe.

This event reaffirms the county’s commitment to ensuring safe, healthy and secure communities – one of five priorities detailed in Performance Clackamas, the county’s results-based strategic plan.

For more information, members of the media and public may contact the county’s Kimberly Lopez at 503-650-5680.
