Canby Ferry returns to service May 19 after successful repairs and inspection

The Canby Ferry, which has been out of service for almost three months for electrical repairs and a routine Coast Guard inspection, will be back in service beginning at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, May 19.

The ferry was originally shut down for a few weeks to fix a frequency drive, but then it was also determined that the overhead power lines also needed to be replaced. Since that would take additional time, and since the ferry was due for its routine five-year inspection by the Coast Guard this fall, county staff decided to keep the ferry out of service until all repairs and the inspection were complete.

The Canby Ferry crosses the Willamette River between Canby and Wilsonville from 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m., seven days a week except on major holidays and when the water level rises to 70 feet or higher.
