County to award $250K to nonprofits serving vulnerable populations

Clackamas County has announced that the application process for its Small Grants Program will open today, July 5. This will be the ninth consecutive year that Clackamas County offers this critical program designed to financially assist local nonprofits that provide services to vulnerable populations living within the county.

A total of $250,000 will be distributed to local organizations.

Priority will be given to feeding the hungry, housing, and homelessness prevention, but all eligible groups are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible for the grants, organizations must show that programs can be self-supporting or that the grant is a one-time expense. Projects must help vulnerable persons meet their basic needs.

A video detailing three previous award recipients and the impact of the grants is available on YouTube.

Organizations interested in being considered for funding are encouraged to apply through Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. The online application form and more information about the Small Grants Program are available on the county’s website. For additional information or inquiries, members of the public may contact Board Assistant Caroline Hill at or 503-655-8261.

Recipient organizations are expected to be announced in October, and funds will be awarded quickly thereafter. Organizations receiving funding will be required to show how the grant was used, including service level and performance measures.
