County to begin temporary repairs on Dickey Prairie Road on Oct. 16

Clackamas County will work to shore up a slide in the southbound lane of Dickey Prairie Road south of the Glen Avon Bridge beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 27.

Regular work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, though more hours may be added if needed. The northbound lane of the road will remain open during the work, with flaggers directing traffic. There may be delays of up to 20 minutes between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

During the past winter, the southbound lane of Dickey Prairie Road slid as part of an historic, extensive area landslide. To keep travelers safe, the county closed that lane and traffic has been moving since in the northbound lane.

Over the summer the crack in the southbound lane continued to grow and a meeting was held with the community in early August to discuss options. According to county officials, it is likely that there will be a need for additional work during the winter to keep the road open to residents. A long-term repair is being designed to put in place in spring-summer 2018.

Area residents and others who drive on Dickey Prairie Road are asked to contact the county if they see any major change in the condition of the road. People can call 503-557-6391 during business hours Monday – Thursday, or 503-655-8211 at any time.

For more information, members of the media and public may contact Project Manager Vince Hall at or 503-742-4650.
