County to host workshop in Milwaukie to help you prepare for flood season

Clackamas County is sponsoring a workshop in Milwaukie, A Flood of Information 2017: Preparing for Rising Water. The workshop is free for county residents and anyone interested in learning more about preparing for flooding in their community. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Milwaukie Center.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone concerned about flooding and securing their homes or property during the wet season,” said Nancy Bush, Director of Clackamas County Disaster Management. “The county and our partners will share some great resources and answer questions to help people plan ahead. We want people to know how to protect themselves.”

Historic and current information concerning the volatility and dangers associated with the rivers will be available, including stories and videos of past flood events, studies, surveys, the latest on flood insurance, maps and much more.

In addition to county departments, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, National Flood Insurance Program, City of Milwaukie, North Clackamas Urban Watersheds Council, The Wetlands Conservancy, and more are planning to attend to answer your questions.
