Water Environment Services receives distinguished budget award

Water Environment Services (WES) has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2017.

The GFOA says the award represents a significant achievement as it “reflects the commitment of the staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.” To receive the award, WES had to satisfy nationally-recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

The guidelines are designed to assess how effectively an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and a communications device.

“We are proud to receive this award as it reflects how WES remains as committed to strong financial stewardship and transparency as we are to protecting public health and the environment,” said WES Director Greg Geist.

WES manages and operates wastewater treatment facilities in Clackamas County that process more than six billion gallons of sewage every year.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 19,000 government finance professionals.
