Dive/Rescue Team
The Sheriff's Office maintains a full-response Dive/Rescue Team. All divers are permanently assigned to other full-time duties, and are subject to 24-hour call-out for dive missions. They respond to rescues, body recoveries, underwater evidence searches, vehicle recoveries and submerged hazardous materials.
The team participates in the Clackamas County Interagency Water Consortium -- which also includes personnel from Clackamas County Fire District # 1, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, the Gladstone Fire Department, the Estacada Fire Department, the Lake Oswego Fire Department, the Canby Fire Department, the Sandy Fire Department and American Medical Response.
Our Dive/Rescue Team has experience in SCUBA, white-water rescue and high-angle and technical water rescue. All our divers have completed the Dive Rescue I certification through Dive Rescue International, and have Advanced Diver certification; most also completed their Master Diver certification by the end of 2006. Several team members are certified First Responders, and one is an Emergency Medical Technician.
