UPDATE: Feb. 24, 2012, 5:34 p.m. -- House searched by SWAT; bank robber still at large
A Milwaukie home was surrounded and searched in an investigation to locate a bank robber.
Evidence collected at the scene of today’s (Friday, Feb. 24) bank robbery supported by information gathered from thorough investigation and a canine search led Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detectives and FBI agents to a house believed related to the suspect.
The residence -- located on Southeast Christopher Ct. off SE Maple St. -- is about one-quarter mile north of the Key Bank branch that was robbed earlier this morning.
By this afternoon (Feb. 24), the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team had surrounded this residence. At 3:50 p.m., team members peacefully called the occupants out of the house. Two males were detained and the house was searched with the consent of the homeowner.
One of the males was arrested for an unrelated warrant and taken to Clackamas County Jail.
The suspect was not located at the house. The suspect is still at large.
Investigators have completed their search of the residence, interviewed those present, and left the area. They believe the suspect is linked to the address, but it is not his residence and he was not there at this time.
No one was injured, and no special weapons were deployed during this search. Maple Street was temporarily closed for the safety of commuters but has since been re-opened.
Three additional photographs of the suspect -- obtained during the robbery -- have been linked above.
We continue to accept tips and information regarding this suspect who remains at large.
