Clark County Sheriff's Office investigates Clackamas County Sheriff's Office sergeant for alleged assault

At about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, Steve Hyson, a sergeant with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on a warrant by the Clark County Sheriff's Office (Washington) concerning an allegation of assault that occurred on Tuesday, May 1. Hyson was taken into custody and charged with Assault II.

The victim of the alleged assault is a 22-year-old adult male, Mr. Hyson's stepson. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is providing support and resources to the victim.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office immediately initiated a concurrent professional standards investigation when notified of the allegation on May 1. Mr. Hyson has been placed on administrative leave.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office considers any allegation of family violence to be a serious matter. We have and will continue to work cooperatively with the Clark County Sheriff's Office for the duration of this investigation.
