Alert employee in Happy Valley locates wallet-theft suspect; additional tips sought
Please reference Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Case #12-29638
At about 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, Clackamas County 911 received a phone call reporting the theft of an employee's wallet from Happy Valley Orthodontics (16144 SE Sunnyside Rd., Happy Valley, Oregon).
The caller, Happy Valley Orthodontics employee June Wood, reported that she smelled a strong body odor and saw the front door of the business closing. She followed the person outside, not knowing the suspect had stolen anything at that point. She was able to get the description and direction of travel for the man.
Ms. Wood returned to the business to find that a co-worker's wallet had been stolen.
Ms. Wood went back outside to attempt to locate the suspect, keeping the 911 dispatcher apprised of her actions.
Ms. Wood was able to provide crucial information on the location of the suspect to Happy Valley Police, who were assisted in the investigation by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies, and authorities were able to locate the suspect -- and the victim's wallet -- inside the Providence Medical Plaza.
Happy Valley Police identified the suspect in the theft as Robert Dean Jensen, age 39, of Portland, Oregon. He was arrested and charged with Theft II. Jensen also had two probation violation warrants with the original charges of Public Indecency. There is no bail listed. His booking photo is not available at this time. Check here for his booking photograph later today.
