Car hits school bus on Oatfield Road; no students injured

At about 8:12 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2012, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a car-vs.-school bus crash on SE Oatfield Road and SE Pinehurst Avenue.
Deputies reported the roadway was blocked for about an hour.
The investigation showed that Kenneth Ridings, age 24, of Milwaukie, was driving a white Ford Contour west on SE Pinehurst Avenue; he then stopped at SE Oatfield Road. Ridings then pulled out in front of a North Clackamas School District bus heading north on Oatfield. The bus was driven by Mark Harvey, age 54, with 3 students aboard,.
The bus driver saw the car stop, then pull out in front of him, but was unable to stop in time before the collision.
None of the three students on the bus were injured, and continued on to school on another bus.
Mr. Ridings was transported to Providence Milwaukie Hospital with an unknown level of injuries. His car had to be towed from the scene.
Mr. Harvey was shaken up from the incident, but not injured.
Mr. Ridings will be cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
Clackamas Fire District #1 personnel provided EMS assistance during the incident.
