The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has completed its investigation of the murders of Steven Forsyth and Cindy Yuille and the attempted murder of Kristina Shevchenko on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Clackamas Town Center.

Investigators list Jacob Tyler Roberts -- age 22, of Portland, Oregon -- as the lone suspect in this case. All evidence consistently indicates that the suspect acted alone. The suspect died at the scene as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

To date, a motive for this crime has not been determined -- despite exhaustive and far-reaching efforts by investigators that included interviews with hundreds of witnesses as well as family members, co-workers and friends of Jacob Roberts.

STATEMENT FROM SHERIFF CRAIG ROBERTS:

"The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office offers its sincere condolences to the Forsyth, Yuille, and Shevchenko families for the pain and losses they suffered. We thank them for their cooperation and understanding during this investigation.

"We also extend our thanks to all the citizens present at the Clackamas Town Center who helped their family, friends, co-workers, customers, and strangers get to a place of safety when the violence erupted.

"I also thank our many partners in public safety from around the region -- first responders came to the mall with expedience, put themselves willingly into harm's way, and stayed to provide assistance as long as they were needed.

"We also commend The Clackamas Town Center management team and General Growth Properties for having the foresight to hold Active Shooter Training with us in their mall. Preparing their staff and merchants for the worst possible situation not only showed responsible caretaking, but also set an example for the rest of our region and the nation."

WRITTEN REPORTS NOW AVAILABLE:

Written reports and photos from this investigation are now available for release.

A bullet-point overview of the investigative findings, timeline of events leading up to the Dec. 11, 2012 incident, and map of the suspect's path through the mall is available here as a 7-page PDF.
