Two-vehicle crash on 82nd Drive sends two to hospital
Shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported two-vehicle crash with injuries on 82nd Drive near Church Street in Clackamas.
Upon arrival, deputies found two vehicles with heavy damage. A Volkswagen GTI had sustained heavy front-end damage, and a white GMC Sonoma pickup was lying on its side in the roadway. (Photos from the crash scene are linked above.)
The driver of the Volkswagen -- Rickie Batchelder, 39, of Vancouver -- was transported to OHSU with injuries. The driver of the Sonoma -- Norman Hunt Jr., 46, of Portland -- was taken to Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center with less-severe injuries, where he has been interviewed by deputies.
Witnesses told deputies that the Sonoma driven by Hunt was traveling northbound on 82nd Drive when it left its lane and collided with the Volkswagen.
Investigators believe an underlying medical condition may have caused the crash.
Deputies have cited Hunt for Failure to Maintain a Lane. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
