The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is seeking a shoplifter -- dubbed the "Nicorette Bandit" -- believed responsible for stealing over $1,000 worth of a gum used to quit smoking. Suspect photos are attached to this release. Tips are sought from the public.
In the latest incident (CCSO Case #14-11381), on April 27 around 4:57 p.m., the Nicorette Bandit allegedly walked into a Walgreens on SE 82nd and Johnson Creek Boulevard, filled a shopping basket with hundreds of dollars' worth of Nicorette gum, and fled the store. In April 27 surveillance footage, the Bandit is seen wearing dark clothing and a distinctive pair of eyeglasses.
In a December 2013 incident (CCSO Case #13-37628) -- which the Sheriff's Office believes is also the work of the same Nicorette Bandit -- the same M.O. was used, resulting in a theft of hundreds of dollars' worth of anti-smoking gum from the same Walgreens. Surveillance photos from this incident are also attached, showing a suspect without the distinctive glasses, but believed to be the same individual.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.
While the Sheriff's Office usually applauds efforts to quit smoking -- citing the numerous health benefits detailed by the American Lung Association (for more information, click here) -- we urge the public to quit in a lawful manner.
The Sheriff's Office asks for your help to identify the Nicorette Bandit. Anyone with information concerning this crime is encouraged to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office's confidential Tip Line -- by phone at 503-723-4949 or by using the online e-mail form.
Please reference CCSO Case #13-37628 (older photos, suspect sans glasses) and CCSO Case #14-11381 (newer photos, suspect wearing glasses.)
