At about 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to an injury accident on SW Stafford Road, near SW Ek Road, which is outside of Tualatin in unincorporated Clackamas County.
According to witness statements, a white 1997 Toyota Corolla driven by 20-year-old Stephanie J. Shternberg was traveling north on SW Stafford Road. As she was nearing SW Ek Road, she lost control of her vehicle, sliding sideways into the oncoming lane of traffic.
The passenger side of the Toyota Corolla impacted the front of a 2012 Volvo semi-tractor driven by 53-year-old Corey Robert Logan, of Portland, OR.
Witnesses stopped to assist, and called 911.
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue personnel responded to extricate Ms. Shternberg from her badly damaged vehicle and treat her injuries. She was then transported by air ambulance to an area hospital. The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
