Happy Valley PD nabs two after homeowner wakes up during in-progress Walnut Rd. burglary

Mr. Tracy Lee Upshaw -- 18, of Portland -- and Ms. Sarah Lynne Mawson -- 22, of Tigard

In the early morning hours of Monday, March 14, 2016, Happy Valley Police contract deputies responded to the report of two suspects entering a home in the 10000 block of Walnut Rd. in Happy Valley.

The homeowner told police that two suspects had entered the home while the occupant(s) were asleep inside. Both suspects fled when confronted by the homeowner.

Happy Valley Police -- aided by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and a Portland Police Bureau K-9 officer -- responded to the scene.

Information provided by the homeowner along with the quick police response led to the capture of both suspects.

Mr. Tracy Lee Upshaw -- 18, of Portland -- and Ms. Sarah Lynne Mawson -- 22, of Tigard -- were taken into custody. Both were transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged on charges of Burglary in the First Degree.

The homeowner does not wish to be contacted by the media.

Three Clackamas County cities -- Damascus, Happy Valley, and Wilsonville -- contract with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office to provide municipal police services.
