One dead in Sunday-morning shooting; suspect in custody; additional tips sought

UPDATE (Aug. 8, 2016) -- VICTIM IDENTIFIED

The victim of yesterday's homicide in Clackamas County has been identified as Ricky Pineda McKowen, A 53-year-old male from Milwaukie.

The suspect, Gerald Lee Miller, has been charged with Murder and Manslaughter in the First Degree.

Booking photo: Gerald L. MillerAt about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 13521 SE Oatfield Rd in unincorporated Milwaukie.

The shooter -- identified as Gerald Lee Miller, age 66 -- called 911 to report that he had shot his male tenant.

Mr. Miller was cooperative with Deputies and was taken into custody.

The victim -- whose name is being withheld pending the appropriate notifications -- was found dead inside the house shortly after Deputies arrived.

The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team (MCT) and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Due to the facts learned during the investigation, Gerald Miller was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail and charged with Murder.

Mr. Miller's charges will be referred to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office.
