Sheriff's Office investigates fatal auto-pedestrian crash

Crash-scene photoJust after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of an auto-pedestrian crash near the intersection of SE Fern Ave. and SE 72nd Ave. in unincorporated Portland.

As deputies were en route to the scene, bystanders attempted to render medical aid to the pedestrian involved. Despite the extraordinary efforts of bystanders, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased upon the arrival of the first deputy.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained on-scene, and cooperated with investigators.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Team (CRAFT) responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation.

The investigation surrounding the crash is still ongoing, no arrests have been made at this time. Additionally, the names of those involved in this incident are not being released at this time to allow for family notifications and the investigation to be completed.
