Sheriff's Office teams up with fellow agencies for
one-day traffic enforcement mission
Deputies issued dozens of
citations during an inter-agency traffic enforcement mission along
Interstate 5.
On Thursday, June 22, 2017, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Traffic Team
deputies partnered with the Washington County
Sheriff's Office, Marion
County Sheriff's Office, and Oregon State Police
for a concentrated traffic-enforcement effort targeting speeding and
other traffic violations.
The one-day, 10-hour mission focused on speed, following too close, and
failures to move over along the entire stretch of I-5 within Clackamas
County -- and ended with targeted enforcement on the southbound I-5
on-ramp from Wilsonville Road.
"It was a huge success all day -- followed by the dozens of thumbs-ups
and thank yous in the City
of Wilsonville for enforcing the Wilsonville Rd./I-5 traffic
issue," reported Sgt. John Naccarato,
head of CCSO's Traffic Team.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies issued the following
citations:
BY OFFENSE TYPE:
- Speeding: 26 citations
- Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device: 35
- Following Too Close: 15
- No Seatbelt: 2
- Cell / Text while Driving: 3
- Driving While Suspended: 3

- No Operator's License: 7

- Lane Use: 6

As the Washington County Sheriff's Office noted in their release on the enforcement effort: "Speed contributes to one third of all traffic-related crashes. Deputies remind drivers to slow down, wear seatbelts, move over and slow down for emergency vehicles, and drive free of distractions such as cell phones."
