GUARDIAN/CONSERVATOR PROGRAMS
The Guardian/Conservator Program serves persons 60 years and older who are not able to make decisions about their well-being, and who do not have family or friends to do this for them. The Senior Citizens Council will facilitate legal intervention and become the Guardian or Conservator for the elderly person if appropriate and necessary. Costs include court filing fee, attorney fees, fiduciary bond, and a minimum hourly charge for all guardian and conservator activities.
If legal intervention is not necessary, Senior Council staff members develop other resources for the older person.
The Senior Citizens Council also has a Guardianship Diversion Program to help insure that all possible alternatives are explored. This program offers client assessment, personal support and encouragement to clients and/or families, short term counseling, placement counseling, case monitoring, and outreach.
Senior Council provides community education about alternatives to guardianship and information/referral to community resources.
For information call Senior Citizen's Council of Clackamas County, (503) 657-1366.
