Program Description
The mission of RSVP is to develop, facilitate, and support meaningful opportunities to make an impact on community needs through volunteer services.
RSVP volunteers are 55 years of age and better. They contribute their wisdom, experience, compassion, skills, and talents and make a difference across the generations, enhancing the dignity, independence and self reliance of all our citizens.
In addition, RSVP volunteer services extends the capacity of non-profit and public organizations in education, arts, science, environment and culture.
RSVP is engaged in a day-to-day volunteer placement and referral. The program refers approximately 500 volunteers annually to numerous community organizations and directly oversees the work of 600+ volunteers at various community-based volunteer stations.
Get Involved!
Find Your Place! RSVP volunteers choose who, where, when and how they serve, with commitments ranging from annual events to seasonal projects to on-going weekly schedules. Anyone with a desire to volunteer can call the program at anytime.
Partnering to Meet Community Needs
If your organization can expand its impact in our community through the services of volunteers, consider a partnership with RSVP. We can recruit, screen and refer volunteers for your service opportunities. RSVP also serves as a resource on volunteer management.
RSVP in Action
Jean is an RSVP success story, which proves that volunteering not only helps the community, but also adds to the volunteer's quality of life. Jean is an 82 year old great-grandmother whose family roots have been in Milwaukie from as far back as her great-grandfather. As a young wife and mother, she worked as a researcher at the University of Oregon's Bureau of Governmental Research. After she retired she returned to Milwaukie and began her second career as a volunteer.
This year Jean's overstretched fixed income has forced her to make a choice: Either continue to pay for internet and cable or continue volunteering. She choose volunteering. She enrolled in RSVP and is now able to volunteer more, Thanks to the RSVP mileage program.
