Where to Walk
Camas Walk - Lily fields and/or Historic Downtown

By Tamra Dickinson

Springtime means wildflowers, and there are so many beautiful places to find these gems. Wandering around one Sunday last year in early May, we stumbled upon this amazing meadow in Lacamas Park in Camas, Washington. This resource has many great tips for places, including directions: Lacamas Park Lily Field Hike

After your walk, wander around historic downtown Camas for a bite to eat. According to Scott Cook, author of Curious Gorge, there are over 100 hikes and explorations in the Columbia River Gorge, (2010 page 46), “If you’ve never found reason to visit this age-old micro suburb, you should. Camas has the most charming, quaint, old-timey main street of any town in the Gorge. Seriously! If you wonder about those famed pulp mill smokestacks and possibly remember the filthy stench that formerly belched forth, then know the “scrubbers” now eliminate 99% of the noxious fumes. Give Camas a look!”
