Deputy District Attorney 1 (DDA 1)

Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office is looking for a motivated and dedicated prosecutor to enter a rewarding career within the Misdemeanor unit. This is an entry level position within the DDA series (DDA 1, DDA 2, DDA 3 and Senior DDA) with an opportunity to promote based upon performance. If selected for this position, you will be involved in evaluating and prosecuting misdemeanor, providing legal advice to law enforcement agencies investigating these crimes and performing other related work at the direction of the supervising attorney. Our office employs vertical prosecution so a DDA determines what charges to pursue and then continues to oversee the case throughout the legal process. As a DDA you would be responsible for negotiating pleas, trying cases, and advocating for justice on behalf of the elected District Attorney. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to take on special assignments such as: DUII court, Community Court, Mental Health Court, Animal Abuse prosecution, Transit cases, Stalking, Fish & Wildlife violations and Human Trafficking.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership with the Oregon State Bar or awaiting bar examination results
  • Must pass background check including national or state fingerprint records check and CJIS certification.
