The Transportation Reaching People (TRP) Program provides transportation to residents of Clackamas County who are older adults or experience a disability.  Transportation is provided to medical appointments, personal business, shopping, and critical life services. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Transport seniors and persons that experience a disability in a safe and efficient manner.  Follow assigned schedule to ensure riders' appointment times are met. Follow safe and defensive driving procedures.  Properly secure riders in mobility devices. Provide excellent customer service.  Be courteous and friendly.  Show respect to the diverse range of clients served in the program.  Substitute for other paid drivers when needed.

Driving a multi-passenger vehicle is not a requirement for this position and training will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of one (1) year relevant customer service or similar experience that is likely to provide the required knowledge and skills to successfully perform the duties of this position. 
  • Ability to secure mobility devices inside the vehicles, which may require pushing, pulling, and/or kneeling.
  • Ability to handle situations with riders that may be unpredictable and require flexibility to manage.  This includes health and mental health related issues.
  • Ability to treat all riders with respect and courtesy.  Have an understanding of equity and diversity issues and respond to people accordingly.
  • Ability to utilize navigation tools, including maps and GPS.
  • Organizational skills, including planning and time management.
  • Successful completion of a Defensive Driver course and Passenger Assistance training.
  • Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. Learn more about the County's drug testing policy.
  • Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check
  • Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.  Learn more about the County's driving policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience providing transportation services to people with a range of disabilities

Hours and Duration

This position is part time and not eligible for benefits. It is a union represented position. TRP Drivers work schedules that take place between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
