We are looking for Temporary Election Workers!

Temporary Worker Applicant Instructions
If you are interested in being considered for a temporary worker position the next step of this process is to complete an application, authorization for a background check and submit your identification. Our temporary election positions are not voluntary.  Election workers are paid, temporary positions.  Employers Overload is the employment agency we use for employment administration.  The employment agency will provide application processing, payroll, and tax documents.  Clackamas County Elections will conduct assignments, scheduling, and training.

Where: Clackamas County Elections, 1710 Red Soils Ct, Suite 100, Oregon City, OR 97045
When:  We are open Monday – Friday 8:30 until 5:00. You can expect this to take about 15 -20 minutes. Please be prepared to complete: 

  •   Employment Application
  •   Authorization for a background check. 
  •   ID intake (provided documents will confirm identity and authorization to work in the U.S.)

 What type of ID do I need to bring?  
 Here are a few options:
    1.  Valid Passport (List A Documents that establish both Identity and Employment Authorization) 
    2.  Valid Driver’s License (List B – Establish Identity) AND Social Security Card (List C– Establish Employment Authorization) 
    3.  Valid Driver’s License (List B – Establish Identity) AND Birth Certificate (List C- Establish Employment Authorization)

Please note: If you are interested in a driving position you will also need to bring your Auto insurance card.

Open Positions

Ballot Route Pick-Up Driver

You will work in a two person team. Team members are required to be registered with different political party affiliations.  Teams will work together to retrieve ballots from county drop boxes and securely transport them to the Elections office. Routes open 3 weeks before the election and pick-ups are regularly scheduled through Election Day. Schedule is generally every other day for approximately 4 hours until the week of the election when we run routes daily and the schedule is all day. The Saturday before the election may be required. Mileage is reimbursed to driver. $15.45-$16.75 Hourly/DOE

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Drivers must have a valid Oregon Driver's License and pass a DMV Background check
  • Drivers must have their own insured vehicle

Election Board Worker

You will work in a 2–4 person team. Teams are required to be a combination of different political party affiliations.  Teams will work together to open, inspect and prepare ballots to be counted. While not physically demanding, it is repetitious and fast-paced, requiring excellent attention to detail and team collaboration.  Boards begin two weeks before the election. Shifts and workload vary based on ballot returns. Election Day is a long shift, extending into the night. $15.45-$16.75 Hourly/DOE

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Drop Site Closer

You will work in a two person team. Team members are required to be registered with different political party affiliations. Teams will work together to retrieve ballots from county drop boxes, lock boxes for the season and securely transport ballots to the Elections office on Election night. Teams are required to be at assigned drop site location at 8 p.m., shift is approximately 2 hours. Mileage is reimbursed to driver. $15.45-$16.75 Hourly/DOE

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Drivers must have a valid Oregon Driver's License and pass a DMV Background check
  • Drivers must have their own insured vehicle
